I'd love to hear about any performances of these works; please drop me a line if you decide to perform one, or if you have any questions.

• I wrote Palimpsest (After Feldman) in 2006 for guitarist Jeff Libman.  At the time, Jeff and I were both taking Dr. Sabine Feisst's Experimental Music class at ASU.  He asked me for a piece that would qualify as "experimental" but would still be approachable by a group of musicians who mainly work in bebop and post-bebop traditions.  I was listening to lots of Laurie Anderson and Robert Ashley at the time, and what came out was a structured-improvisation-plus-speech piece.  P(AF) re-purposes the score for Morton Feldman's percussion work King of Denmark, turning it into a vehicle for spoken childhood memories accompanied by an ensemble (3-9 total performers).  (Instructions/Score)

• Palimpsest (After Glass) is a short piece I wrote in May 2009 for violist Laura Sinclair.  Laura and I attended the Bang on a Can Summer Institute in 2007 and got along fabulously.  After the Institute, she moved to Cleveland to start grad work at CIM while I went back to Phoenix to continue at ASU.  When I got the job at Kent State, we were able to start hanging out again-- she's still fabulous-- and this piece was a gift for her upon her leaving Cleveland to start the next stage of her career.  I hope she likes it.  It can be played on any instrument capable of playing two pitches at once; transpositions are fine if there are range issues.
